Annual
Meeting
The annual meeting for the Falls Creek Homeowners’ Association will be
held at 7:00 PM on Monday, January 23 at the Harrod’s Creek Fire Department
at 8905 US 42. On the agenda are:
- The election of
new members to the Board of Directors
- A presentation
by our Metro Councilperson, Kelly Downard
- A presentation
by the Graymoor-Devondale Police Department
- A review of the
2006 budget
The FCHA Board of
Directors consists of ten resident owners, serving staggered 2-year terms.
Thus, each year, five positions are up for election. Directors with expiring
terms are Dave Gibson, Dennis McGlincy, Gerrit Schroeder, Rick Woods,
and a position unfilled from the resignation earlier this year of Liz
Coomes. Dennis McGlincy and Rick Woods are retiring from the board after
serving for four years. We thank them for their dedication. The board
voted to elect Dave Gibson to fill the remaining year in the term of Ramona
Belden. Up for election to new terms at the annual meeting are Gerrit
Schroeder (reelection), Phil Bezehertny, Mary Hutchinson, Charlie Nally,
and Terry Seelow.

Ramona Belden

The FCHA Board of Directors and the entire Falls Creek community suffered
a loss in December with the death of Ramona Belden. Ramona was a long-term
resident of Falls Creek with her husband Lorne (a former FCHA board member)
and their children, Lorne III and Jennifer Carpenter. Ramona was the epitome
of a Board member and a great neighbor. She worked selflessly to improve
Falls Creek’s landscaping and beautification, making valuable contributions.
Her sincere efforts will be missed by us all.
Ivy Ridge
On December 19, the Louisville Metro Planning Commission recommended approval
of the rezoning of the Ivy Ridge parcel of the Beech Spring Farms development.
This rezoning from single family (R-4) to higher-density (R-5A) allows
for the development of 92 patio homes in the 20-acre Ivy Ridge parcel.
The Falls Creek Board of Directors, as well as neighboring developments,
opposed the rezoning. As a result, the original proposal was reduced from
100 homes, improvements in design were made to improve the fit with the
character of our neighborhood, and increased landscaping was put in place
to soften the impact. While the result was not what we lobbied for, it
was a significant improvement from the proposal to which we originally
objected. This proposal must now be approved by the Louisville Metro Council.
The FCHA board will be working with Beech Spring Farms and Ivy Ridge to
jointly coordinate common services in 2006.
